Beginning in childhood, we automatically construct a story about who we are based on what we experience. We perpetuate our story without realizing it through habits in our thinking and behavior.

Often, the stories that we construct do not accurately reflect the truth. Even though we cannot change the experiences that we've had, we can change how we narrate those experiences. We can also learn new mindsets and behaviors that can become our new habits.

Change can feel scary. Sometimes we choose to maintain painful stories because we don’t know what the alternative may look or feel like. There have been times when I have felt like I was fumbling through the darkness not knowing where to find the light when I’ve tried something new. It can be easy to turn back or give up when we’re scared.
